The big question: Who will get the responsibility of Home Department?

Dehradun

The biggest question at the moment is who will take over the Home Department after the retirement of Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu today. Radha Raturi will become the Chief Secretary. Now the biggest question is who will handle the Home Department. ACS Anand Bardhan, Chief Secretary Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, or someone from the L-Finale will be given this important responsibility, or will the DGP formula be applied and the Home Department be handed over to the CS. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami often makes surprising decisions. This time, everyone’s eyes are on his move.

Anand Bardhan is considered deserving to handle the Home Department due to seniority. He has already handled this responsibility twice. If CM Pushkar entrusts him with the Home Department again, then Sudhanshu and Fanei are next in line.

Sudhanshu is considered strict and stern. Even if he is given the responsibility of controlling the police, it won’t be surprising. Fanei is also from Sudhanshu’s batch (1997). He has a good image, but his temperament is not considered suitable for the Home Department. It is noteworthy that despite a very ordinary image, Radha has efficiently managed this department.

If the seniors are not given a chance, then it falls on the next batch of officers. The most senior among them is R. Meenakshi Sundaram from the 2001 batch. Then there are Shaillesh Bagauli and Radhika Jha from the 2002 batch. The government may hardly go below these officers for the Home Department. Two other officers from this batch, Nitesh Jha and Senthil Pandian, are outside Uttarakhand.

Nitesh has already been the Home Secretary in the previous government. Therefore, the government may not have any problem in giving the Home Department to the Secretary. It is also speculated that just as Abhinav was given charge of the Intelligence Department while handling the DGP’s chair, similarly Radha may also be asked to oversee the Home Department.

Previously, Finance and Mining-Civil Aviation Chief Secretaries have been seen. After the inauguration of the new Chief Secretary, there is strong speculation of a major reshuffle at the Secretary level. If officers other than Radha move from their departments, then the chain of reshuffling may be long.
